Apprenticeships at WATA - Employer information

Apprenticeship week

We would like to invite employers to WATA to talk about Apprenticeships.

WATA will host informal ‘pop-in’ sessions on the 7th and 8th February at 08.30am – 09.30am and from 15.30 – 17.15

The sessions are available to all employers who wish to know more about how taking on an Apprentice can benefit their business.

Performing Engineering Operations

We are now delivering basic engineering training offering the following practical skills in the Peterborough area

- Fabrication/Welding
- Bench Fitting
- Machining
- Electrical Installation

Students will gain a Performing Engineering Operations qualification on successful completion. This qualification can also be used as part of the Apprenticeship programme.

Youth Training

WATA has been managing apprentice and trainee programmes on behalf of companies since the mid- 1970s. Currently over 150 WATA apprenticeships are underway with some 50 companies.

Each WATA programme is individually designed to meet the needs of our client company and their apprentices.

WATA has access to Government funds ensuring costs are minimised for our client companies.

WATA apprenticeships ensure your workforce skills are developed to meet the future goals and business needs of your organisation.

We remain the main link between young people and prospective employers by providing:

  • Vacancy advertisements, Interview, test and selection services.
  • Support from our professional trainers, all nationally accredited assessors/verifiers.
  • WATA Membership with clear benefits including access to the WATA skills courses.

WATA can offer you Advanced Apprenticeships, NVQs and key skills in the following sectors:

  • Business Administration
  • Customer Service
  • Electrical Installation
  • Electronics
  • Engineering Maintenance
  • Engineering Manufacture including machining, fabrication, welding and assembly

  • Team leading

Apprenticeship funding is no longer restricted to under 25 years old.

Apprenticeship and NVQ training is available for people of all ages. WATA can access funding to support eligible employees through their programmes.
