Taster Sessions in Engineering

These 4 day taster sessions are starting in April 2012 in the Peterborough area and are free of charge to people aged 19 - 24, who are looking for a career in Engineering but are unsure which area they wish to specialise in.

4 days - Electrical,
4 days - Machining/Fitting,
4 days - Welding.

The sessions may be completed in a block or day release basis. You can choose which tasters you want to complete, or you can complete all 12 days covering each area.

At the end of the taster sessions, you may be offered an 'Apprenticeship' programme, which could lead to employment in Engineering.

You can continue to claim benefits including Job Seekers Allowance whilst completing these sessions. Your travel to and from the training centre will be paid.

What qualifications do I need for an Apprenticeship?

It is desirable that you have some GCSE’s and it is an advantage if these are in Maths, English and Science subjects, but qualifications are not essential. It is more important that you have the willingness to work hard and the desire to complete the training.
