Asbestos fibres cause serious diseases which are estimated to be responsible for around 4000 deaths a year. If you work in any of the following occupations and are working on a building built or refurbished before 2000, you may come in to contact with asbestos. Occupations include: Heating and ventilation engineers, Carpenters and joiners, Roofing contractors, Plasterers, Fire & burglar alarm installers, Gas fitters, General maintenance staff (e.g. Caretakers), Cable layers, Electricians, Demolition workers, Plumbers, Painters & decorators, Construction workers, Shop fitters Computer installers, Telecommunications engineers and Building surveyors. This course provides an understanding of where Asbestos may be present, how to recognise possible sources and how to follow safe work procedures to minimise exposure. Suitable for all tradesmen, manual workers team leaders and supervisors.
