Introduction to the Management of Occupational Road Risk at WATA
1 day
This one-day course is designed to provide delegates with the skills required to effectively manage occupational road risk within their workplace.
It is estimated that up to one third of all road traffic accidents in the UK involve someone who is driving at work. This is estimated to account for up to 1,000 deaths in the UK, annually. This makes driving at work one of the riskiest work-related activities.
Under Health and Safety Executive (HSE) guidance, 'Driving at Work: Managing Work Related Road Safety' employers will come under increased scrutiny by the Police and HSE in the event of a road traffic accident involving a member of staff. Those who are responsible for health and safety, but fail to provide evidence of adequate policies, procedures and control measures, risk prosecution and even imprisonment.
The practical course covers law relevant to occupational road risk, the development of a risk management approach, risk assessment methods, control measures and introduces a range of risk management tools, methods and sources of information on occupational road risk.
