NEBOSH National Diploma in Occupational Safety & Health
45 days including revision days and examinations
The NEBOSH National Diploma is established as the most popular
qualification of its kind, with over 10,000 candidates having achieved
the award. The Diploma is designed for Safety Practitioners who wish
to take professional qualifications. It provides core health and safety
knowledge that is transferable across industry, commerce and the
public sector. Combined with understanding and appropriate
application, the Diploma underpins the competent performance of an
Occupational Health and Safety Practitioner. The WATA approach to
Diploma delivery at our training centre in Huntingdon, ambridgeshire
has proven to deliver consistent success in professional training for
our delegates. At WATA we provide an environment designed for
learning; combining this with lectures, discussion, tutorial, dual course
material, field visits and delegate personal support; and finally we bring
all this to a tight focus on WATA Diploma Revision days; six are
included in the course fee. It is this approach which brings our
impressive and consistent pass rates. In addition to receiving full
tuition, WATA delegates are assisted in their private study by free
online access to IHS On-Line Systems (formerly Technical Indexes)
during their registered study time.
The NEBOSH National Diploma is a professional qualification that
satisfies the academic requirements for Chartered Membership
(CMIOSH) of the Institution of Occupational Safety and Health (IOSH),
the recognised professional body in the field. Holders of the NEBOSH
National Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety may use the
designatory letters “DipNEBOSH” after their name and are invited to
the NEBOSH Graduation Ceremony in the year following the
successful completion of their award. In addition to Diploma awards,
Best Candidate Awards are presented at the ceremony and in
previous years WATA delegates have received an impressive 5
NEBOSH best candidate awards.
The Diploma is a qualification that is approximately equivalent to 3rd year degree studies, level 6. Whilst there are no longer entry requirements to the Diploma, WATA believes students will find it helpful to have completed the National General Certificate first and/or have demonstrated the ability and application to study at the required level. An application form is required to be completed to enable us to offer the best delegate support.
The syllabus comprises four core units:
Unit A: Managing health and safetyUnit B: Hazardous agents in the workplace
Unit C: Workplace and work equipment safety
Unit D: Workplace-based Assignment
To gain the NEBOSH National Diploma candidates will have to successfully complete four units (A-D).
Unit D is a single workplace-based written assignment covering an audit of a delegate’s chosen organisation. The Unit D report is prepared in delegates’ own time after attending a one day workshop and is monitored and guided by WATA tutors.
