The WATA route to Diploma success
The NEBOSH National Diploma is established as the most popular qualification of its kind, with over 10,000 candidates having achieved the award.
The Diploma is designed for Safety Practitioners who wish to take professional qualifications. It provides core health and safety knowledge that is transferable across industry, commerce and the public sector. Combined with understanding and appropriate application, the Diploma underpins the competent performance of an Occupational Health and Safety Practitioner.
The WATA approach to Diploma delivery at our training centre in Hartford, Cambridgeshire has consistently proven to deliver success in professional training for our delegates. At WATA we provide an environment designed for learning; combine this with lectures, discussion, tutorial, dual course material and delegate personal support; and finally we bring all this to a tight focus on WATA Diploma Revision days; six are included in the course fee. It is this approach which secures the WATA overall Diploma pass rate at an impressive 88%, with Unit A 86%, Unit B 91% and Unit C 86%.
In addition to receiving full tuition, WATA delegates are assisted in their private study by online access ‘Technical Indexes’ during their registered study time.
The Professional Rewards
The NEBOSH National Diploma is a professional qualification that satisfies the academic requirements for Chartered Membership (CMIOSH) of the Institution of Occupational Safety and Health (IOSH), the recognised professional body in the field.
Holders of the NEBOSH National Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety may use the designatory letters “DipNEBOSH” after their name and are invited to the NEBOSH Graduation Ceremony in the year following the successful completion of their award. In addition to Diploma awards, Best Candidate Awards are presented at the ceremony and in 3 years WATA delegates have received an unparalleled 5 NEBOSH best candidate awards.
Diploma Full Programme
The Diploma is a qualification that is approximately equivalent to 3rd year degree studies, level 6. Whilst there are no longer entry requirements to the Diploma, WATA believes students will find it helpful to have completed the National General Certificate first and/or have demonstrated the ability and application to study at the required level.
The syllabus comprises four core units:
Unit A: Managing health and safety
Unit B: Hazardous agents in the workplace
Unit C: Workplace and work equipment safety
Unit D: Workplace-based Assignment
The WATA delivery of the Diploma is designed in seven modules to provide study flexibility around candidates ongoing work commitments. Three initial modules are covered in Unit A - Managing Health & Safety, whilst two further modules are presented in each of Units B (Hazardous Agents ) and Unit C (Workplace & Work Equipment).
Unit examinations of three hours duration are held each year in January and July for units A-C. To gain the NEBOSH National Diploma candidates will have to successfully complete four units. Unit D is a single workplace- based written assignment and replaces smaller assignments previously associated with each Unit A-C. The Unit D report is prepared in delegates’ own time with tutorial set-up and ongoing support from WATA tutors. To meet WATA criteria delegates are required to complete an application form.

Delegates can choose to book per Unit or book for all four units for the full Diploma course and pay the discounted fee of £4500 + VAT per single delegate. Book unit A, B and C together to get Unit D at no extra charge.
