Increasingly, safety professionals have responsibility for environmental issues within their organisations. The NEBOSH Environmental Diploma is an ideal professional level qualification and is intended primarily for those responsible for environmental management. Additionally though, the Diploma is proving an increasingly important qualification for senior managers whose corporate position identifies them as charged with minimising the likely environmental impact of their organisation’s activities.
Successful candidates are invited to attend the NEBOSH Graduation and Awards Ceremony in the year following successful completion of their diploma and may use the designatory letters SpDipEM. In 2005 and 2006 WATA students were awarded Best Candidate Awards for their individual examination results.
The WATA delivery of the NEBOSH Diploma syllabus comprises the three modules from the established WATA integrated Environmental Management Training Programme (EMTP). Therefore, in addition to their NEBOSH Diploma for completing all 3 study weeks, WATA delegates may also receive IOSH certification for units studied in week 1 and IEMA certification for units studied in week 2 leading to associate member of IEMA (AIEMA).
Whilst there are no formal entry requirements to the Diploma, candidates should be aware that this professional level qualification is equivalent to degree level study. Assessments for each week of study are by a written examination, practical projects and the week 3 assessment also has a workplace-based project report.
