Introduction to Engineering
WATA are running a free course to those aged 19+ who are not in employment, education or training, who are looking for a career in Engineering but are unsure which area to specialise in. We are offering young people (male and female) in the Huntingdon area the chance to take part in a 4 month course in Engineering, covering the qualifications below.
On completion you could work in roles such as:
■ Electrical Engineer
■ Electrical Maintenance Technician
■ Mechanical Maintenance Technician
What does the course cover?
■ NVQ Level 2 Diploma in Performing Engineering Operations
■ Functional Skills Level 1 in Maths and English
Mandatory Units are; Working safely in an engineering environment, Carrying out engineering activities efficiently and effectively and Using and communicating technical information.
Examples of optional units include; Producing components using hand fitting techniques, Preparing and using semi-automatic MIG, MAG and flux cored arc welding equipment and Wiring and testing electrical equipment and circuits.
Delegates are required to attend an interview and initial assessment at WATA before being accepted onto the course.
