Full Course description

This course is vital for managers; supervisors; safety officers; and all employees who are responsible, either full or part time, for helping their company in the set up or maintenance of health and safety legislation. The course is also ideal for those who manage health and safety in their place of work.

The course can be taken in a 12 day block; by week units; or day release. NEBOSH sets and marks two written exam papers, NGC1 and GC2, each of which are two hours long; as well as a practical unit, GC3. The third unit has to be done at the delegate’s workplace and returned to WATA within seven days of sitting the exams. It should be noted that delegates need to complete private study in their own time in order to finish and pass the course.

WATA holds block courses and week units each month; we also run three day release courses each year. Our pass rates are one of the best in the industry. In 2010 our pass rates often topped national pass rate averages; as well as this we achieved 100% on the majority of our courses. This makes WATA a secure placement for your training budget. The majority of our tutors are also NEBOSH examiners; this mean that our revision sessions are focused and insightful.

All WATA delegates will receive a copy of ‘Introduction to Health & Safety at Work’ by Phil Hughes and Ed Ferrett at the start of the course (RRP £44.99).

Unit NGC1 (Management of Health and Safety) is common to the NEBOSH National General Certificate, the National Certificate in Construction and the Certificate in Fire Safety and Risk Management. This means that delegates are able to combine units across NEBOSH qualifications. Delegates do not need to re-sit any units already achieved; as long as they were gained in the last five years.

The NEBOSH Certificate is accepted by IOSH – the Institute of Occupational Safety and Health; and completing it meets the academic requirements for Technician of IOSH (TechIOSH). It is also accepted by The International Institute of Risk and Safety Management (IIRSM) for Associate Membership.

Changes to the test can be requested from NEBOSH as long as candidates can prove they have either permanent, long term, or temporary disability or a learning difficulty. Please contact our Customer Service Team to talk about your needs for the course and exam in confidence before the course starts.

NEBOSH now require all delegates to provide photo ID (eg. passport, driving licence, National ID Card) in order to sit the exam. Delegates who do not produce a photo ID will not be allowed to sit the exam.

NEBOSH training delegates should look at the NEBOSH General Student Terms and Conditions prior to the start of the course; a copy of which can be found in the Student Section of the NEBOSH website: www.nebosh.org.uk.
