Duration: 24-30 months

The Fabrication and Welding Apprenticeship is for individuals that are interested in a career or developing their existing skills in fabrication and welding. A fabrication and welding Apprentice will cut, shape and join sections of metal in a wide range of industries.

They will develop the practical skills and technical knowledge required to work as a professional and competent fabricator and welder. Intermediate Apprentices will work in roles such as;

■ Fitter Welder

■ Pipe Fitter

■ Semi-skilled Sheet Metal Worker

■ Welder/Fabricator

What does the course cover?

■ NVQ Level 2 Diploma in Fabrication and Welding Engineering

■ NVQ Level 2 Diploma in Performing Engineering Operations

■ Level 2 Diploma in Engineering

■ Functional Skills Level 1 in Maths, English and ICT

■ Personal Learning and Thinking Skills

■ Employment Rights and Responsibilities

Mandatory Units are; Complying with statutory regulations and organisational safety requirements, Using and interpreting engineering data and documentation and Working efficiently and effectively in engineering.

Examples of optional units include; Producing Fillet Welded Joints using a Manual/Semi-Automatic Welding Process, Marking Out Components for Fabrication, Producing Sheet Metal Assemblies and Producing Platework Assemblies.
