WATA will soon be training the highways maintenance operatives, supervisors, service engineers and electrical supervisors who will be working on future projects such as the A14, Ely Bypass and Stansted upgrade .
On the 10th October Skanska will be starting a block release programme training their future street lighting technicians. They will be undertaking the City & Guilds Level 3 Diploma in Electro-Technology. The Apprenticeship programme will take place over a 3 year period.
Skanska have greatly supported WATA with their donations of lighting columns and street light heads.
WATA are now offering New Highways Apprenticeships
This Apprenticeship is designed to provide people with existing industry experience the opportunity to become effective supervisors in a Highways Maintenance environment.
Students will become effective in supervision, estimating, project management, health and safety and a range of highways work related tasks.
This Apprenticeship focuses on the repair and maintenance of street lighting and road signage.
students will gain the necessary knowledge and experience to repair and maintain a range of systems supported with a good understanding of electrical principles and safe methods of working.
Students will gain a thorough understanding of electrical principles, cost estimating, work scheduling and management of project management underpinned with formal qualifications in leadership and project management and health and safety.
Operating in a range of first and third line roles Electrical Supervisors will be able to manage complex installation and repair and maintenance operations.
