Meet WATA’s new staff

WATA are pleased to welcome Mark Graham the new Health Safety and Environment Product Manager and Graham Ridley the new Construction and Plant Skills Trainer.

Mark joined the Royal Engineers in 1990 and trained as a Combat Engineer to cover basic construction, demolition and engineering tasks. He also trained as an Armoured Engineer covering all aspects of mechanical engineering and becoming a heavy vehicle mechanic. As a Communications Engineer he covered all aspects of comms from pagers and mobiles through computers and up to military radio systems.  Along the way Mark has taken part in or been responsible for numerous construction and demolition projects all over the globe from Brunei to Canada and Iraq to the Balkans. He has gained teaching assessing and medical qualifications as well as construction and engineering. Mark retired from the military in 2015 after 25 years and for the last 14 months has worked as a mobile trainer delivering Health and Safety courses to delegates across England.

Originally a plant operator Graham has worked on construction projects worldwide including Europe, the Middle East, the Caribbean and the Americas. Graham also has a background in specialist plant and construction training, delivering bespoke training for a large organisation which operates globally. He has spent a number of years  as a project and plant fleet manager providing strategic planning and management of civil engineering and infrastructure projects.
His recent site experience includes project and site management of flood defence works in the electricity supply sector, civil engineering including work on airfield upgrades and highways projects throughout the UK.
Graham has studied for a HND in Civil Engineering and is an NQV assessor and hopes to complete a degree in Engineering Management when time permits.
